Twenty-four thousand, four hundred square feet of production space was constructed for this new processing plant south of Custer, South Dakota. The Pacer Corporation is a Mica processing facility, constructed using a Butler Building package, 305 linear feet long by 80 linear feet wide by 70 feet tall at the ridge.
The project was completed in 10 months and came in under out anticipated budget. Critical completion was important, since the old plant had been in operation for 75 years, and the existing building and equipment was in need of daily repairs. Once the new equipment was purchased and arrived, it had to be housed to keep dry. Several pieces had to be installed before the roof and side panels were installed because of their size.
